In the capital of Tatarstan, the renovation of the second building of the City Hospital -16 has been completed. The medical facility is the only one in Kazan in which there are departments of hematology and pneumology. During the renovation, the roof, utilities were replaced in the building, new equipment and furniture were installed, and toilets were installed in each hospital room. The renovated medical facility was visited today by the Mayor of Ilsur Metshin and the Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Marat Aizatullin.

“With the support of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, much attention is paid to healthcare. Now one of the few buildings that require renovation is another building of Hospital -16 with an area of 5,000 square meters. We hope that we will renovate it as well,”- Ilsur Metshin said.

Hospital -16 is a multi-field medical facility, comprising a hospital, a polyclinic, a maternity welfare clinic and a maternity hospital, an Ear and Eye center and a pneumo-center. Today, the hospital employs about 900 people, including more than 200 doctors. More than 56 thousand people are served in the polyclinic, the women's consultation serves more than 32,300 patients. Up to 12 thousand patients receive specialized medical care in the hospital of the hospital every year

The renovation of the hospital began 6 years ago: first, the polyclinic and the maternity welfare clinic were overhauled, and later – a separate catering unit, which was reequipped as a city outpatient center for otorhinolaryngology and pneumology. Repairs in the five-storey second building of the hospital began in March 2022, the work was carried out in stages.

A department of hematology is situated on the fifth floor of the building. The renovation was completed here in the summer, in June patients were admitted to the renovated premises. The floor is equipped with single and double patient rooms with an individual bathroom and a separate ventilation system, which is important for patients with low immunity. Ilsur Metshin looked into the treatment room of the department and inspected the repairs carried out. According to the chief physician of the hospital, Vladimir Belyakov, there is everything necessary for the operation of the equipment: centrifuges, plasma defrosters, and a ventilation system is connected.

After that, the Mayor of Kazan visited the Department of Pneumology. “Now it is cozy, beautiful and functional,”- the head of the department, Elvira Kudryavtseva, shared with the head of the city. According to her, the result of the work carried out was appreciated by both employees and patients. “The repair is wonderful. I visit the department every year, so I know how it was here before,”- Zulfiya Abdralova, an elderly resident of Kazan, confirmed.

Besides, an X-ray computed tomography room with new equipment was equipped in the second building of the hospital. In addition, a department for storing medicines was opened in the renovated hospital building. Special conditions have been created in it – the necessary temperature and humidity are maintained.

Together with the Mayor of Kazan, the hospital was visited by Deputy Minister of Health Ildar Fatikhov, Deputy Head of the Health Department Ramil Mukhamatdinov and Head of the administration of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts Sergey Mironov.

For reference, this year Kazan plans to complete construction of a children's polyclinic in Derbyshki, a perinatal center, and will also begin to build a polyclinic with a children's and adult department in Salavat Kupere.
