<p> In Kazan, the renovation of three schools is being completed under the Development of Education federal program – gymnasium No.18, schools No.131 and No.143. An extension to the main building at gymnasium No.18 will increase the design capacity of the educational institution by 300 more students. In total, by September 1, the gymnasium is ready to admit 670 students. Ilya Korotikhin, First Deputy Director of the Department for the Maintenance of Social Institutions of the Executive Committee of Kazan, informed about the readiness of the municipal schools for the new school year at the Business Monday meeting. </p> <p> “An extension to gymnasium No.18 is a special event for us, we have received many appeals from parents about it. On September 1, we will open a new school building with a landscaped territory in a densely populated area”, - said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. </p> <p> A large amount of work is also being carried out at school No.143 of the Novo-Savinovsky district of Kazan, where renovation began last year, then the roof, gym and windows were renewed. This year, the work continued – the front was repaired, utilities, entrance groups, doors, fire control system were replaced and the interior design of the premises was completed. “Today, the main work is being completed at the school”, - I.Korotikhin shared the results. </p> <p> Alongside the utilities are being prepared for the heating season in educational organizations. According to I.Korotikhin, pressure testing and hydraulic washing were carried out at 16 educational institutions, including networks with a length of 600 meters were repaired and worn-out heating radiators were replaced. </p> <p> Modernization of 31 canteens at 30 Kazan schools continues under the republican program for the renovation of food units. Construction and installation works are fully completed, and the Department of Food and Social Nutrition of Kazan is carrying out commissioning of equipment. “18,500 schoolchildren will be able to appreciate new meals in comfortable conditions. 297 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes”, - I.Korotikhin said. </p> <p> I.Metshin noted that the infrastructure in educational institutions is being improved every year. “We almost completed the school restaurant improvement program. This is a completely new level of nutrition at schools – a new lunch format in a comfortable place”, - the Mayor said. The Mayor stressed that the products undergo strict control in the Department of Food and Social Nutrition of Kazan. In total, 144 school restaurants will operate in Kazan in the new school year – 78% of the total number of canteens. </p> <p> “The new school year is coming, so the readiness of schools is a crucial issue today. All the necessary work should be carried out in the remaining days”, - I.Metshin instructed the heads of district administrations and relevant departments. </p>
