The new-generation library opens in Kazan

<p> Today, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin visited the reconstructed library building № 26 on K.Tsetkin street in the Kirovsky district. This is the only new-generation library in the city, which was developed using modern architectural and planning solutions and innovative technologies. The head of the city inspected the renovation and noted that in the near future creating modern library spaces to be continued in Kazan. </p> <p> The mayor inspected the room for children's activities and talked with young readers. He also visited the study room, where a lesson was held for participants of the project Zhiznelyub on mobile education, and also reviewed the large window enclosed balconies, which create a cozy space. </p> <p> “It is important that such large windows and balconies allow passing people to see the library of a completely new level. They will want to come in and become one of the readers – I. Metshin shared his opinion. – Each person has their own memories of childhood. And it is very important that the library also would become a place of pleasant memories for today's children”. </p> <p> “New architectural and planning solutions have been applied here – they are not just beautiful interiors. All the architecture was created from the point of view of library practices – what will happen here, what projects we can implement. After all, the library today provides not only the book delivery, but various educational events –- said the director of the network of municipal libraries, Rezeda Ismagilova. – We hold literary stand-ups, lectures, classes for active people and many other events here. There is a co- working club so that people can come and work in a quiet environment”. </p> <p> The reconstruction of the library has been carried out since 2018, and the renovated facility opened in December 2019. Today it is the only library in the city that combines the functions of a library stack and a modern public space. </p> <p> The mayor got acquainted with a new service implemented in the library, which allows readers to take and return books without assistance of employees. As explained by Nikolai Baskov, head of the library, this can be done by the RFID system for books identification. </p> <p> Renovation of social facilities in Tatarstan capital is carried out full service, the Mayor noted. “We are moving gradually in infrastructure renovation. At first, we paid attention only to the overhaul of schools, clinics, and housing. Today, the possibilities allow us to repair libraries, – he said. – The improvement works have reached remote areas, it makes us very happy. Kazan should not have outskirts– we need decent infrastructure everywhere”. </p> <p> At the end, the head of the city got acquainted with reconstruction projects for other libraries in the city – the Central library on Vishnevsky str., the library on Mavlyutov str. and others. The mayor made his comments and several adjustments. </p>
