Kazan launches next course of rehabilitation and social adaptation of visually handicapped people

In 2020, the Yardem center plans to train 200 blind and visually handicapped people.

On January 20, rehabilitation and social adaptation courses for blind and visually handicapped people will start in Kazan. The training is organized as part of the “See and hear with your heart” project in the rehabilitation center of the Yardam charity found. In 2020, it is planned to held four courses and train 200 blind and visually handicapped people.

The project aims at improving the quality of life of visually handicapped people. For this purpose, specialists use medical rehabilitation- massage, physiotherapy and other types of treatment, help in mastering new skills in everyday life, conduct wellness classes for them and excursions, as well as cultural events. In addition, the fund's wards receive social and legal support, such as free legal services.

More than 300 applications for training are accepted annually.

The project's geographic footprint is constantly expanding. Presently, blind and visually handicapped people from more than 40 regions of Russia and CIS countries have been trained. Over the 10 years of the its operation, several thousand people have been treated in the center.

In 2018, the “See and hear with your heart” project became one of the winners of the Russian President's grant competition for the development of civil society. In November 2019, the project won a grant of Tatarstan to non-profit organizations that implement socially significant projects.

The courses will run until February 19. The first session will be held on January 20 at 14.00 at the Yardem Mosque on Serov street - 4A, the press service of the charity found reports.
