The culmination of the holiday will be the salute at the “Kazan Arena”.
(KZN.RU, April 29, Ksenia Shvetsova). On Victory Day in Kazan, more than 120 celebrations will take place, which will cover almost all public spaces of the city. Residents and guests of the capital of Tatarstan are invited to performances, concerts, exhibitions, a festive parade and colorful fireworks at the Kazan Arena. Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, ordered to prepare the city for May 9 and to hold all the events at the highest level today at the Business Monday. He noted that young residents of the city take an active part in the events and marked that it is important to organize their meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture, reported about the festive events in Kazan for May 9. According to him, since May 5, memorial and commemorative events will be held at the obelisks and monuments to those who fell during the Great Patriotic War.
From 1 to 10 of May, a broadcast of the radio newspaper “Victory Bell” will be held in the large shopping centers of Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts, which will feature greetings for veterans and front-line songs.
On May 6, a veteran concert will be held at the Tatar State Philharmonia, as well as a solemn event in the park Kaleidoscope.
The heads of regional administrations also reported on the program of celebrations. Timur Alibaev, the head of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts’ administration, said that on May 7, district events will be held in the park Krylya Sovetov. On May 8, a celebration will take place in the CLC Lenin where more than 500 veterans and home front workers have been invited. On the same day, 15 memorial events at the obelisks and monuments to the fallen participants of the war will be held on the territory of the districts.
In Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts, a festive celebration is organized for veterans and widows of the participants of the Great Patriotic War at enterprises and organizations of the districts. Cultural events will be held in the yards, squares and parks. Concerts and performances will take place for veterans, said Airat Akhmadullin, the first deputy head of Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts’ administration.
93 events are planned to be held in the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts in the institutions of culture, youth, education and sports with total coverage of about 30 thousand people. Sergey Mironov, the head of the district administration, said that from 6 to 8 of May, meetings will be held and the solemn laying of flowers in public gardens and monuments in residential areas of the district. The schoolchildren will demonstrate the knowledge of military songs at the traditional event “Victory in everyone's heart” with the participation of sports veterans.
“The preparation of a film about the feats of our district residents during the war years is being completed. The first show will be held on May 6 at a ceremonial concert dedicated to the Great Victory Day in the HoC “Moskovsky”, said S. Mironov.
The athletics relay will be held on May 7, dedicated to the memory of war heroes in the Derbyshki. From 5 to 8 of May, cultural centers, teen clubs, children's centers and schools of the district will present their programs at the festive events, said Roman Fatkhutdinov, the head of administration of the settlement.
“Kazan students will join the celebration of Victory Day. Tomorrow there will be a solemn procession with the laying of flowers at the monument to Musa Jalil on May 1 Square. Then, a meeting at the main building of Kazan University will take place. Five thousand students of higher educational institutions will take part in the student march”, said A. Abzalov.
“I am glad that the younger generation is joining the May 9 celebration. Children should be brought up with examples of the courage and valor of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers”, noted Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee. “We began to forget at what price the world was saved. Today, there are those who want to rewrite history, turn everything upside down. The best answer for this will be meetings of young people with veterans. We can still study history not only from textbooks, but also from those who had witnessed it. This opportunity must be valued”.
This year new monuments devoted to the Great Patriotic War will appear in Kazan: the renovated Alley of Military Glory and Park will be opened in Yudino, and a monument to the Border Guards will be opened at the residential complex “Tankodrom” on May 4 at 10 am. The author of the monument is the designer Ruzal Farkhullin.
On May 9, solemn events will begin with a memorial ceremony of laying flowers at the Arkhangelsk and Arsk cemeteries. The holiday in the Pobedy Park will begin with a solemn laying of flowers at the Eternal Flame. The opening of the monument to Workers of the Rear, will also take place there, reported A. Abzalov.
The main site of the celebration will be the Millennium Square. Anyone can see the gala parade and theatrical program for the first time in Kazan.
Throughout the day, festive events will be held in the Pobedy Park on various thematic areas. From 10 am, the guests of the park are invited to the festival “Victory Heirs” with the participation of more than 600 representatives from 32 regions of Russia. The traditional festival of children's brass orchestras “Fanfare Victory”, consisting of 250 participants, will continue the festive program. At 2.30, guests of the park will be able to see performances of creative teams of the city. At 6 pm, dance tunes of the 30s-40s will be played in the park performed by the military brass orchestra.
An important part of the holiday will be the annual action “Immortal Regiment”, the gathering of participants to which starts at 1 pm.
The celebration of Victory Day at 10 pm will end with colorful fireworks. The citizens are invited to the territory in front of the stadium “Kazan Arena” to watch the show.
Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, urged for special attention to the safety of all participants of mass events. “Any public events are associated with risks. I ask law enforcement agencies and medical services to be on the alert during the events”, noted D. Kalinkin.
He also urged the heads of districts and departments to conduct thorough preparations for the holiday. “The city structures are celebrating Victory Day fully armed, although they are armed peacefully: they are brooms, rakes, various tools, and instead of military equipment, buses, trams, and special equipment for cleaning streets. There is not much time left, maximum readiness and precise coordination of actions are necessary”, concluded D. Kalinkin.
At the end of the report, A. Abzalov reminded that the scheme of public transport movement will change during the May holidays in Kazan. From 1 to 5 and from 10 to 12 of May, the public transport in Kazan will operate on weekend schedules. On May 9, ground transportation will also follow the weekend schedule with the extension of work hours to 11.30 pm. On Victory Day, the work of the metro will be enhanced during the passage of the “Immortal Regiment”.
