The final of the WorldSkills Russia National Championship started in Kazan

(KZN.RU, May 20). Today, the opening stage of the VII National Championship “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” was opened in the ice palace “Tatneft Arena”. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Irina Potekhina, the deputy minister of Education of the RF, and Simon Bartley, the President of the WorldSkills International, greeted participants of the championship.

Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the participants after the colorful prolog of the opening ceremony and the parade of participants of the championship. He thanked the organizing committee of WorldSkills, which determined the capital of Tatarstan as the site for the world championship in 2015 in fierce competition. The President of the RT noted that these competitions are a rehearsal for the WorldSkills World Championship, which will be held in Kazan in August. “You are our hope! The winners will represent the interests of our country in the world championship WorldSkills. I am confident that the championship at the “Kazan Expo” will be held well”, said the President of the RT and wished the participants a fair and uncompromising competition.

Russia recently joined the WorldSkills movement. Each national championship is a new step, said Irina Potekhina, the deputy minister of Education of the RF. “I wish this championship to be just the beginning, so that you walk the path of the competition all your life”, she said.

Simon Bartley, the president of the WorldSkills International, also congratulated the contestants. “This year is special, of course. WorldSkills Championship is held in Russia for the first time in history. Like you, we are extremely pleased that the world championship in professional skills will take place in Kazan very soon”, he said.

After the welcoming part, expert Alexander Yakovets and contestant Milena Torsukova made oaths about fair judging and an even fight. At the end of the ceremony, a gala concert was held, reports the press service of the President of the RT.

The championship competitions will be held from 21 to 23 of May at the “Kazan Expo”, as well as at five mobile sites. 1500 contestants will take part in them, more than 14000 guests are expected. The closing ceremony of the national championship will also be held in the ice palace “Tatneft Arena” on May 24.
