1.5 thousand containers for collection of PET bottles are located in Kazan

<p> (KZN.RU, February 21). Kazan continues to develop a project on separate collection of garbage. Today 1.5 thousand containers for the collection of PET bottles are installed in the city. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, got acquainted with how the project helps management companies not only to deal with garbage but also to equip the Kazan yards with proceeds fr om putting plastic into the processing facility. Before the meeting with activists of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts, he together with Sergey Mironov, the head of the administration, examined an unusual grid container in the form of a two-meter plastic bottle. </p> <p> </p> <p> The MC ZhKKh of the Moskovsky district has presented a creative container, which immediately shows its functional purpose. This management company started the installation of containers for PET collection in the summer of 2015. 70 containers for the collection of PET were installed at the end of 2017, and now 75% of the container sites of the Moskovsky district of Kazan are equipped with them. </p> <p> </p> <p> Oleg Kalimov, the director of MC ZhKKh in the the Moskovsky district, said that residents collected 39 tons of plastic bottles in almost 3 years. The MC managed to raise 800 thousand rubles after the delivery of this volume of waste. Some of these funds went for the purchase of additional containers, and some for the purchase of swings that were installed in the yards. At present there are 8 of them but it is planned to buy and install more in summer. The company tags each of the swings with a sign which indicates what money were used for it. This, helps to popularize the very idea of separate collection of garbage because residents have a clear example of the efforts made. The same goal is pursued by the action, which is regularly carried out by the MC: the competition “Plastic Hunters” for schoolchildren and visitors of summer camps. </p> <p> </p> <p> The head of the city highly appreciated the proposed ideas, including the separate collection of garbage in the end of a brief excursion to the administration of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts and getting acquainted with this and other projects, as well as an interactive reconstructed museum. </p> <p> </p> <p> Ilsur Metshin said that the funds for purchasing containers for collecting hazardous wastes are allocated in the city, a network of recycling points is developing, and 1.5 thousand containers for collecting PET bottles are located. “Sergey Mironov showed the creative bottle for collection at the entrance wh ere both 5-liter and 1-liter bottles can be placed. You are an example in this”, the Mayor approved the idea. </p>
