Kazan will host the festival of short Scandinavian movies

One documentary and five game movies by Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian directors can be seen from February 28 to March 3.

(KZN.RU, February 8). Kazan will host the festival of short Scandinavian movies. Residents and guests of the city will see one documentary and five game movies by Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian directors.

The basis of the program consists of films participating in major international film festivals. The movies included in the program of the festival NordicShorts, represent the author's capacious statements. They based on personal stories and experiences of directors, one way or another working with the national identity, humor and aesthetics of the Scandinavian countries. These great movies are interesting to watch, with live characters.

Thus, the Kazan audience will see the Finnish film “Kayani”. It tells about brother and sister returning fr om France to Finland, wh ere they spent their early childhood to meet with their father, obsessed with ideas about UFOs. The awakening of a forgotten national identity, painful but inevitable, becomes the main theme of this family melodrama. The short film “Tiger” also reveals the themes of the relationship between parents and children, the growing up of a teenager in an uneasy Finnish family. Love and relationships become central themes in the black comedy “The Swedish Classics”. The usual plot of the wedding is revealed from a different side: the characters come to understand themselves and their desires through the tragedy. The Norwegian story “The Observer” tells about former lovers, one of whom does not want to let go of the past. But a special place in the program is occupied by the films “Juck” and “Get Lost”. This is a kind of manifesto of new femininity of directors from Sweden.

The screenings will be held at the CLC Lenin cinema from February 28 to March 3. The program of the festival is available on the page of the organizers: https://vk.com/kinolenin and by phone: (843) 246-32-42.
