In winter, more than 560 special vehicles will be used in Kazan to clear snow

<p> The winter operational mode for road services has started in Kazan. They will be used to clear snow from an area of 23 million square meters. 562 vehicles will be provided for this purpose. If there is a heavy snowfall, up to 1,000 vehicles could be deployed under the Buran plan. </p> <p> 495 drivers and 887 road workers will be involved in the work. Four contractors will be involved in the cleaning of the city roads. </p> <p> 54,000 tons of sand-salt mixture were harvested to clean the streets from ice. The entire volume will be ready by the end of October. Enterprises have purchased 6,800 tons of reagents, they will soon purchase 3,200 tons, and in December – another 4,200 tons. The paving reagent with marble chips was purchased in the amount of 590 tons. </p> <p> Snow will be transported to eight snow melting points operated by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise «Vodokanal». In total, these points will be able to handle 8,000 tons of snow per day. Additionally, a storage area of more than 12,000 square meters has been provided on Tetsevskaya Street for storing snow. </p> <p> The work will last for 182 days up to April 15. Snow will be cleared from central highways, public transport routes, bus stops, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossings. After that, the roads of the first and second categories will also be cleared. The time required for complete snow removal ranges from two to seven days, depending on the weather situation. </p> <p> Last winter, more than 2.1 million tons of snow were cleared from the streets of Kazan, while 180 centimeters of precipitation fell over three winter months, exceeding the average annual snowfall by 35%. </p>
