Among the works were three books by Shigabutdin Marjani.
Translations into Russian and reprints of the works of Shigabutdin Marjani and other Tatar theologians were presented in Kazan. The presentation took place today at the residence of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the republic of Tatarstan.
Fundamental works are now available for reading to Russian-speaking residents. For the first time, they will be able to get acquainted with scientific achievements of pre-revolutionary Tatar theologians. Translations and reprints were prepared and published as part of the events dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.
Specialists of the Russian Islamic Institute translated the works of Shigabutdin Marjani into Russian. The books complement the Anthology of Tatar Theological Thought, which has been published since 2005 with the participation of the Marjani Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and the Russian Islamic Institute. This year, translation of three of the most famous works of the Tatar historian was completed. The treatise is considered the most reliable source on the history of the Tatar people since ancient times. This book is the only work of Marjani in the Old Tatar language. For the first time it has been fully translated into Russian.
The introduction to the bio-bibliographic dictionary “Loyalty to predecessors and greeting to descendants” was also presented at the meeting. This book introduces the reader to the world of Arab-Muslim civilization. The largest volume of the work of Marjani – “Loyalty to predecessors and greeting to descendants” was also translated. The 7-volume dictionary includes 6,057 biographies of scientists, writers, philosophers and socio-political figures of the Muslim East and the Tatar people of the period of the VII–XIX centuries. The first volume of the work with a selection of biographies of Tatar theologians was translated.
