Another “waffle” road marking appeared in Kazan

(KZN.RU, July 5). A new “waffle” road marking appeared in Kazan. It was put on the intersection of Pushkin and Salimzhanov streets and Tatarstan and Pravo-Bulachnaya streets.

“Waffle” road markings are used at traffic light intersections where traffic jams and accidents occur often. The marking is a yellow grid with diagonal lines and marked borders. The total area of the marking was 1600 square meters, reports the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the RT.

The primary purpose of the waffle marking is to eliminate the occurrence of traffic jams and the concentration of accidents. It is forbidden to drive into this area if there is a traffic jam ahead so as not to create an obstacle to traffic in the transverse direction. Now it is better for drivers to wait and not drive at the end of the green signal of the traffic light at a busy intersection.

Violators will face an administrative fine of 1 thousand rubles.

It is the second such marking in Kazan; the first one appeared on July 1 at the intersection of Levo-Bulachnaya and the Parizhkoy Communy.
