Renovated cultural center named after Said-Galiev opened in Kazan

The ceremony was attended by Marat Khusnullin, Rustam Minnikhanov, Vladimir Osintsev, Alexei Pesoshin and Ilsur Metshin.

Today, the renovated cultural center named after.Said-Galiev was opened in the Kazan village of Derbyshki. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of culture Vladimir Osintsev, Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexei Pesoshin and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

The Said-Galiev cultural center is one of the oldest community centers in Kazan, a monument of architecture of the Stalinist era, built in 1959. It is named after the Soviet party leader Sahib-Garey Said-Galiev. A park adjoins the building, and a square and fountain are located at the square in front of the cultural center.

The overhaul started here last summer. Premises of the cultural center are decorated with unique chandeliers and lamps, designer’s stucco made in art workshops of Leningrad, so specialists paid special attention to the restoration work.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that the Said-Galiev cultural center has always been very popular among citizens. Over the 60-year history, more than 30 million people have visited various cultural and leisure activities here. Creative groups have won prizes at Russian and international festivals and forums.

The visitors inspected the premises of the renovated cultural venue, visited the concert hall, library, multifunctional cinema hall, and learnt about main activities of the center.

The Said-Galiev cultural center is located at the Sovetsky district of Kazan and is designed for the population of the Derbyshki residential area and near-by settlements. There are 9 schools and gymnasiums, 2 lyceums, a construction college, 2 boarding schools, a boarding house for disabled children, 10 kindergartens, and industrial enterprises in this area. The cultural center has three departments: children's, art, cultural and recreational. More than 3 thousand people are engaged in 45 clubs here, Tatarstan President’s Press office reports.
