The memory of the famous Tatar poet Fatikh Karim was honored in Kazan

The laying of flowers to the memorial plaque took place at the house №8 on Mislavsky Street.

(KZN.RU, January 9). Today, flowers were laid at the memorial plaque of the Tatar poet Fatikh Karim in Kazan. The meeting, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the famous poet, took place at the house №8 on Mislavsky Street, from where he went to the front on December 30, 1941. The event, organized by the Union of Writers of the RT and the Department of Culture of Kazan, gathered poets, writers, and residents of the city.

The daughter of the poet Leila shared her memories of the father, also Rinat Kharis, a poet, Rimzil Valeev, a journalist and a public figure, Foat Galimullin, a professor, Ph.D. of Philology, Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture, and Ramis Aimetov, the deputy of the RT Writers Union, spoke at the meeting as well.

Fatikh Karim was born on December 27, 1908, in Aitovo Village, Bizhbulyaksky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

He had primary education, and in 1922, entered the Belebeevsky Pedagogical College. After that, he studied at the Kazan Land Management College, worked with republican newspapers and magazines and in the editorial office for youth literature. From 1931 to 1941, Karim lived in Kazan.

His works were first published in 1928. The first collection of poems “The First Song” was issued in 1931, later his most significant works were published as well: “The Seventh Stove” (1932), “The Noisy Dawn” (1933). They reflected the process of industrialization of the country and the collectivization of agriculture.

Fatikh Karim is the author of a number of works written at the front: collections “Love and Hate” (1943), “Melody and Power” (1944), the story “Scout Notes” (1944).

On January 17, 1945, Junior Lieutenant Fatikh Karimov was appointed the commander of a platoon of sappers of the 226th independent demining battalion, the 144th Infantry Division, the 65th Infantry Corps of the 5th Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front. He died a month later, on February 19, 1945, performing a combat mission on the outskirts of Koenigsberg in Pobeda Settlement (currently the Kaliningrad region). He was buried in the mass grave of Bagrationovsk in the Kaliningrad region, reports the Kazan Department of Culture.
