Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, spoke at the plenary session on trends in the architecture of medical infrastructure.
The XIV International Research-to-Practice Conference “Modern Engineering Systems in Health Architecture” has opened today at the Kazan Expo Center. The issues of global trends in the architecture of medical infrastructure were discussed at the first plenary session, which was attended by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
The conference was opened with a video address of the Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, who noted that high-quality medical care should be provided at the same level throughout the country. “As part of this work, a project is being implemented to modernize primary healthcare, according to which 5,800 medical facilities will be built and reconstructed in Russian cities and more than 7,900 hospitals will be renovated by 2025,”- the speaker said. He noted that the design of hospitals directly affects the recovery of patients: “Architecture and interior design are important, therefore, unified projects for the construction and renovation of medical institutions were developed, which allow saving time and resources during a construction, while a design of premises by a single brand book creates a cozy atmosphere."
Ilsur Metshin spoke about Kazan as a city which pays special attention to healthcare issues. “Many decisions of city authorities, businesses and other parties involved in urban development affect the health and well-being of people. Therefore, we need to work in dialogue with each other and with city communities,”- the Mayor said and reminded that Kazan hosted the first MES conference in 2007.
Ilsur Metshin noted that the complex of transformations that is being implemented in Kazan is always aimed at an improvement of the quality of life. According to him, this comfort gives residents a sense of stability and confidence that Kazan is the place where they are needed. “Human health depends on several factors, 80% of which are our front of work. We are investing significant funds and efforts in the modernization of medical institutions. Since 2017, we have renovated 79 hospitals and polyclinics, next year we plan to build a children's hospital on the banks of the Kazanka River and a Transplant Center at Republican Clinical Hospital,”- the Mayor said.
In addition to physical health, attention is paid to the preservation of the mental health of Kazan residents of all ages. Helplines and free psychological support centers are available for residents, it is also possible to get assistance at the Good Kazan.
New requirements for residential complexes and public buildings under construction, underground parking, separate waste collection, comprehensive landscaping, healthy hot meals at schools, a network of bike lanes, an accessible environment are just some of the new city standards.
The synergy of the work of the Mayor's Office, city and republican services, developers and pro-active citizens results in the transformation of the urban environment. “I am sure that among the announced cases there will be a lot of those that will be scaled and implemented tomorrow at infrastructure facilities not only in Kazan, but also in other cities of Russia,”- Ilsur Metshin summed up.
