(KZN.RU, July 9). On August 1, an exhibition entitled “Illusion in Graphics and Poster” by Ishtvan Oros, a famous Hungarian artist, illustrator, and poster painter, will open at the Center of Contemporary Culture “Smena”. It will feature 39 graphic sheets, 5 three-dimensional objects, and 40 posters. Posters of theater productions and festivals, posters on current social issues are among them.
Ishtvan Oros was born in Hungary in 1951. He graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Design of the University of Art and Design of Mokhoy-Nad in Budapest.
In his works, the artist uses visual paradoxes and spatial illusions, often sending the viewer to characters and events from the history of art. Since 1984, he has been using the pseudonym Utis, which means “no one” in Greek. This name was used by the ancient Greek character Odyssey to deceive the Cyclops and then deprive his eyes. This ironic pseudonym refers to the fact that the work of Oros is like an attack on a person’s visual perception.
The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 7 pm; the admission is free, reports CCC “Smena”.
