Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of the repair work.
A new inclusive center for children with disabilities and their parents will open in the capital of Tatarstan. The center will comprise a co-working, a children's room, a psychologist's office and a sewing workshop. Mothers of special children will be able to communicate, work, while their children will be under the care of specialists, as well as participate in master classes and receive legal or psychological assistance. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of repair work.
“We pay more attention to inclusion, including working with children with special needs. Such a center has been expected for a long time, we received many request from parents of special children,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
The workshop, where special clothes for children with disabilities are designed and sewn, is now located at 27 Latyshskikh Strelkov Street. But soon it will be relocated to a new facility at 28 Sibirsky Tract. There area will increase five times than the current premises. It will allow to organize a coworking here, which will be used for communication, workshops, consultations, and as a conference room.
It is planned to organize 17 sewing working places in the workshop, and mothers of special children will be able to earn money while teachers and other specialists or volunteers work with their children next door. “The main reason why it is difficult for mothers of special children to earn extra money is that they have no assistance. We want to create comfortable conditions for parents and children. They will be able to spend time with benefit in the center,”- explained Daliya Gainanova.
The new center will host master classes for children and their parents. “We received requests from mothers of special children to organize master classes where they can learn how to work with their hands. We supported this idea,”- said Roman Fatkhutdinov, head of the administration of the Sovetsky district.
Ilsur Metshin noted that the crafts made by them can be sold at the fairs, which are held annually in Kazan. This tradition was born several years ago on the initiative of schoolchildren. The received money are directed to charity organizations.
Daliya Gainanova also said that she plans to cooperate with maternity hospitals and medical institutions to provide psychological assistance to parents of special children. “They need the support and advice of specialists, because sometimes they send babies to orphanages. They are not sufficiently informed that it is possible to live well with such children, and the city provides great support in this direction,”- she stressed.
In addition, the possibility of opening a training apartment for children with disabilities in one of the premises is being considered.
The inclusive center with an area of 417 sq.m is located on the ground floor of an apartment building. Now the repair work has been completed by 30%. The Mayor of Kazan got acquainted with an interior design project developed together with mothers of special children. Following the meeting, I. Metshin instructed to finalize the project.
