The first yard accessible for persons with disabilities will be equipped in Kazan

I.Metshin got acquainted with the improvement project of the yard at 43 Dubravnaya Street and the Voskhozhdenie rehabilitation center.

For the first time in Tatarstan, a yard fully accessible for persons with disabilities will be equipped in the Privolzhsky district of Kazan under the republican program. It will be located on the territory of an apartment building No.43 on Dubravnaya Street and the Voskhozhdenie rehabilitation center for the disabled. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the design of the improvement project, which will be carried out under the Our Yard program in 2022.

The Voskhozhdenie Center is a unique project, serving for helping disabled people in psychological and social adjustment. Disabled persons can be temporary accommodated with their families in the apartment building nearby.

“This is a special house that we opened more than 15 years ago, and a yard for special people, which is visited by more than 100 persons with disabilities during the day, - the Mayor noted. -There are quite active residents here, it is very important to make joint consideration of the project with them”.

According to Marat Zakirov, head of the administration of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts of Kazan, local residents got acquainted with the preliminary layout of landscaping and made some adjustments.

Alexey Nikolaevsky, architect of the yard improvement project, noted that yard is divided into several areas: a playground with swings, a site with equipment for the development of motor functions, a mini-basketball area with a special ring for wheelchair users, as well as a basketball unit. Also, workout equipment will be installed in the yard, where people with disabilities, both adults and children, will be able to practice.

It is planned to start the work on the second quarter of 2022.

Forty-nine families are living now in a four-storey house for persons with disabilities, 19 more people are on the waiting list. The building was put into operation in 2006, during the last two years the ongoing maintenance was carried out. “This house is a part of specialized housing stock, so it is not included in the renovation program. To date, 16.5 million rubles have been allocated for renovation from the municipal budget. With this money, we will repair the roof and install an automatic weather control unit”, - said Iskander Giniyatullin, deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan. At the same time, the total estimate requires for about 47 million rubles. “Additional funds – 31 million rubles - are needed for all complex works: repair of front, utilities, common areas of the building. The scope of works here is wider than a standard renovation”, - he explained.

In addition, the Mayor of Kazan proposed to renovate the rehabilitation center. “It is necessary to carry out ongoing maintenance, and if required to carry out overhaul. It is necessary to carry out concurrent renovation of the apartment building and rehabilitation center, as well as the yard for convenience of people”, - he said.
