Inclusive classes in mechanics and carpentry, robotics and pottery will be held there.
In Kazan, it was decided to establish a creative and educational center for children at school No.49. The training will be held on the principle of inclusive education – schoolchildren and children with disabilities will be able to attend classes. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the building where the workshops will be located.
An additional building on 30 Musina Street with an area of 300 sq. m. was built in 1977 for shop classes for boys. It has not been used for about 7-8 years, said the principal of school No.49 Dmitry Sadetdinov.
This year, it was decided to renovate the building and establish a creative training center with workshops there, where students of all nearby schools and children with disabilities will be able to study. Dalia Gainanova, Kazan City Duma deputy, is the initiator of using a closed building on the territory of school No.49 for these purposes.
Dalia, as a mother raising a child with disabilities, knows what such families need – Ilsur Metshin said. – Now we want to have several such centers in the city, where children with disabilities could get the opportunity to socialize and communicate with other children. We will establish such centers in each district at schools, cultural centers and other municipal facilities”.
“We plan that here children will be engaged in carpentry, mechanics, robotics and pottery”, - the school principal said. Pottery and robotics are especially important for children with autism spectrum disorders, as they improve their psycho-emotional state due to the improvement of fine motor skills, he explained.
“It is crucial to implement this project efficiently, we will purchase all the necessary equipment, - the Mayor said – We would like to check all the stages of repair works so that the building is as convenient and accessible as possible and nothing has to be redone”.
