Kazan may host friendly football matches with the teams from BRICS countries

During the BRICS Games in Kazan, the Russian Football Union (RFU) is planning to hold friendly matches between the national teams of the BRICS countries. This was announced by the RFU Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov.

“The summer tournament in Kazan takes place at a bit different time, outside the FIFA schedule. In this regard, we are voluntarily negotiating with a number of teams. We are not planning any special tournament, but as long as the BRICS Games will be held in other sports, we are trying to negotiate with some national BRICS teams to arrange friendly matches on a voluntary basis in Kazan during this period. We think it would be symbolic. The fact that this is not the period of national teams complicate the negotiations, but the chances are still good,” said Maxim Mitrofanov, as quoted by TASS.
