Today, a festive event dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Kazan in the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT, Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Councilor of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and other officials attended the event. </p> <p> </p> <p> The event began with the removal of the state flags of Russia and Tatarstan and the Victory banner on the stage, after which the hymns of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan were heard. </p> <p> </p> <p> Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the participants of the war and the workers of the rear, who came from all regions of Tatarstan, on the holiday. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Victory Day is a sacred holiday, which was given us by you, our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. About 700 thousand people from Tatarstan fought in the ranks of the army. Our countrymen took part in many military operations, worked for the sake of victory in the fields, factories, and hospitals. Examples of fearlessness and courage of the Tatarstan residents will always remain in the annals of the Great Patriotic War. More than 100 thousand of our fellow countrymen were rewarded with orders and medals for heroism and dedication at the front”, said the President of the RT. </p> <p> </p> <p> He marked that 48 residents of the TASSR became full knights of the Order of Glory, and 185 were awarded the highest mark of distinction, the “Golden Star” of a Hero of the Soviet Union. “As for the whole with the republic, there are 341 such people. One of them today present in the hall, it is Boris Kuznetsov”, said the President of the RT. </p> <p> </p> <p> “On this bright holiday we remember with gratitude those who paid for the peaceful sky over our heads at the price of their lives”, added Rustam Minnikhanov. After these words, the participants paid tribute to the memory of those who died at the fronts of the war by a minute of silence. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Dear veterans, each of you contributed to the Great Victory. You have withstood the hardest trials and have liberated our homeland from fascism. Nothing has broken the strength of your spirit and the will to Victory. Your heroic deed will remain forever in our hearts. Dear veterans, low bow to you for the peace and freedom given to us, for your courage and fearlessness, indestructible willpower”, the President of the RT thanked the main heroes of the celebration. </p> <p> </p> <p> Rustam Minnikhanov handed the relatives of veterans who had passed away certificates of state stakes. In particular, the Military Commissariat of the RT found and restored certificates for three military orders (Alexander Nevsky from 1944, the Red Star from 1944, and the Glory III degree from 1945), which were not presented to the participants of the Great Patriotic War for one reason or another. </p> <p> </p> <p> Guard Sergeant Pavel Pletnev, awarded with the medal “For Services to the Republic of Tatarstan”, in a reciprocal word marked that the main task is the upbringing of the younger generation. “Our great-grandchildren and grandchildren should be ready to defend the Motherland”, he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The medals of the RT “For Valiant Labor” were presented to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War Lydiya Arkhipova and Antonina Parfenova for a long and productive work for the benefit of the republic and a great contribution to the patriotic education of the younger generation, reports the press service of the President of the RT. </p>
