In Kazan, 33 fountains are being prepared for winter season

The pumps are being cleaned and stored, while some of the bowls will be covered with plywood

In Kazan, specialists of the Land Improvement Committee have begun the preparing fountains for winter season. They have already removed the pumps from seven water structures, cleaned them, and stored them, as well as installed wooden frames over some of the fountain bowls and covered with plywood to protect them from the cold. The remaining 26 fountains will be prepared for winter in the near future. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

Presently, fountains have been prepared in Belinsky and Slava squares, Petrov and Kryliya Sovetov parks, as well as on Sovetskaya Square and at the Railway Workers and Said-Galiev recreation centers. Cleaning of structures in Leninsky and Lyadsky gardens is also underway. Experts note that all work is carried out smoothly.

Fountain conservation is a multi-step process. Before the frost, the water is completely drained from the bowls and pipelines, then, the equipment is thoroughly rinsed. The pumping units are dismantled and sent to storage. They will remain in storage until the start of the next warm season.

«During deconservation, the pumps are installed and checked for any defects. If any are found, they will be repaired as part of maintenance», - Renat Safiullin, Deputy Head of the Department of Capital Repairs, Construction and Reconstruction of the Kazan Land Improvement Committee, said.
