The youth center will be located in the renovated Chemists' Recreation Center

The Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, got acquainted with the concept of the renovation of the building

The overhaul of the Chemist's Recreation Center, which will become the main youth center in Tatarstan, has begun in Kazan. A concert hall with 520 seats, a media center, multifunctional and dance spaces, creative workshops and pottery studios will be located on the three floors of a modern space covering an area of 7,300 square meters. Renovation of the building will take place in stages. Currently, workers have begun to dismantle the outdated networks and spaces in the left wing of the facility.

In April 2024, the Chemists' Recreation Center was transferred to the Youth Center of Tatarstan, which is operated by the Ministry of Youth. This transfer was made possible thanks to victories in the All-Russian competition for programs for the integrated development of youth policy in the regions of the Russian Federation in 2023 and 2024.

“I would like to express my gratitude to SIBUR for their social responsibility and for truly hearing the call of young people. They responded to the need for a facility like this. I also want to thank the Rais (Head) of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, for making the decision to establish a youth center that would unite the best resources of Kazan and Tatarstan. Young people in the republic will now have a home at this amazing location,” - said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.

The design project was presented to Ilsur Metshin by the Minister of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan Rinat Sadykov and the team of the Youth Center of the republic. The concept was designed after three separate public hearings with the participation of teenagers, students and elderly citizens. As a result, it was decided to recreate the historical appearance of the building: to leave the mosaic on the front and wall images.

A historical square will be built in the adjacent territory of the main entrance instead of parking. Citizens will be able to park their car along the park area in the municipal parking lot.

On the ground floor of the youth center there will be a hall with a large number of open public spaces, a concert hall with 520 seats and an area for disabled. As the head of the RE'ACTOR art residence Kadria Bugrova explained, the second part of the auditorium will be separated by a curtain to create a chamber space for 300 seats.

“In addition to a large stage, comfortable seats and places for people with disabilities, there will be a modern equipment suitable for hosting any concerts,”- said Ilsur Metshin. Four dressing rooms will be equipped for artists. Creative workshops and pottery studios will also be located on the ground floor. The entrance to these spaces will be at the end of the building, where a courtyard is planned to be recreated.

The Center aims to promote the development of creative industries among young people, so it is planned to run the RE’ACTOR Art Residence, an incubator for social projects, and an information resource center for volunteers.

The Center will be available not only for children and teenagers, but also for their parents. So, the building will house choreographic and multifunctional multimedia halls, a media center.

The building is also equipped with meeting areas and offices for employees. The principles of interior design include the use of marble (60%), wood (30%) and glass blocks (10%). Young designers are involved in the design of furniture.
