After the tendering procedures, new parking spaces will be created – the deputy head of the Executive Committee said. - The total number of city parking spaces will reach 6,711”. </p> <p> The system of a citywide urban parking space in Kazan was introduced in February 2015. </p> <p> The municipal parking was developed based on the analysis of traffic flows, forecasts of motorization and development of the city, said the head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Rustem Gafarov. “We have correctly identified the development of the traffic situation, but we have slightly underestimated the increase in the number of individual transport, - he added. – With the growth of motorization, the parking space is also expanding. New parking lots are not located completely on the entire street – the choice of sites is based on the walking accessibility to social facilities and shopping centers”. </p> <p> <b>The capacity of the main central streets has increased by 18%, and the average speed of traffic has increased by 5 km/h</b> </p> <p> From the launch, municipal parking proved its effectiveness, said I. Shakirov. With the introduction of paid parking space, the traffic to the city center by individual transport has decreased, the turnover of parking spaces has almost doubled. “The capacity of the main central streets has increased by 18%, and the average speed of traffic has increased by 5 km/h”, - the speaker stressed. </p> <p> The rate of municipal parking is differentiated. Parking of the vehicle at a paid municipal parking lot for a period less than 15 minutes is free of charge. </p> <p> For reference, for every person paying for parking, there are about 12 motorists who took advantage of free time. In general, today about 7,600 drivers pay for parking a day. At the same time, according to approximate calculations, about 90 thousand drivers use parking daily. </p> <p> <b>The budget received more than 740 million rubles from the work of parking lots – these funds are allocated for improving transport services</b> </p> <p> For 6 months of this year, the budget received 38.3 million rubles from municipal parking service, and for the entire period of operation – 307.2 million rubles, said I.Shakirov. </p> <p> Another 48 million rubles were received from fines for non-payment in the first half of 2021 and 433.5 million rubles for the entire period of operation of the paid parking. </p> <p> “The total income from the payment of parking and administrative fines amounted to more than 740.7 million rubles for the entire period of operation. These funds go directly to the city budget”, - I.Shakirov noted. </p>
