Two new schools will open doors in Kazan on Knowledge Day

About 19 thousand first-graders will sit at school desks in the city on this day.

(KZN.RU, August 26, Alina Berezhnaya). In the new school year, 138 thousand schoolchildren will sit at their desks in 166 schools of Kazan. About 19 thousand are first-graders, which is 9 thousand more than in the previous school year. Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education, announced this today at the Business Monday.

By the Knowledge Day, two new schools for 2725 students will be opened in Kazan in the residential complex “Vesna” and along Gareev Street. Now educational institutions have the conditions for training in several profiles. “The schools plan to devote most of the attention to the study of languages, regardless of the orientation of the classes. New buildings will work under the program “Full-day school”, offering a wide selection of additional education services”, said I. Khidiyatov.

The issue of teaching children in the second shift is still acute in schools. About 40% of Kazan schools operate in a two-shift regime today, and more than 19 thousand children go to the second shift. In some educational institutions, it was decided to construct the outbuildings, in particular, new buildings this school year will appear in the school №93 of the Sovetsky district and the school “SoLnTse”.

Preparation for the school year is not only the construction of new institutions, but also the overhaul and current repair of existing schools, the updating of educational equipment, and the improvement of territories, said I. Khidiyatov. 1.5 billion rubles were allocated from sources of the consolidated budget for these purposes. Under the capital repair program, 17 educational institutions are being repaired this year: one school and 16 kindergartens. In addition, this year 30 school gyms, 39 canteens, and 10 assembly halls were overhauled, the territories of 48 institutions were updated, including 12 under the program for the repair of yards and driveways.

“The comfort and aesthetics of the rooms contribute to improving education quality. Modern design turns the school space into an innovative educational environment”, explained I. Khidiyatov.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted that a lot of work has been done to improve the infrastructure of educational institutions. “The numbers are impressive: the opening of two new schools, which will provide a place for another 2700 children, annexes, new buildings. 1.5 billion rubles spent on preparing for the school year! Thanks to WorldSkills, 48 schools were repaired. Next year, we will continue this work without a championship. This is only a repair, excluding funds for construction! And over a decade, built 20 new schools, 111 kindergartens we in Kazan, and 11 ones this year alone. Despite the lines in kindergartens, young families please us all with the birth of second, third, fourth and even fifth children. Therefore, there is a lot of work for us”, said I. Metshin. He added that overhaul in educational institutions will continue next year.

According to the Mayor, the number of schoolchildren is increasing along with the improvement of infrastructure. “138 thousand schoolchildren go to school this year. I remember when I started working as the Mayor of Kazan, there were 97 thousand. Kazan has grown over 40 thousand schoolchildren during this time, of which only 19 thousand are first-graders. It pleases us and obliges us to a lot of work”, said I. Metshin. The Mayor noted that the issue of teaching children in two shifts remains relevant in the city. “The federal standard of the national project “Education” obliges everyone to transfer them to the first shift. It will not be easy, but with the support of the federal center and our government, I think we can do it. We need to solve this problem systematically”, concluded I. Metshin.
