Six public spaces to be improved in Kazan in 2020

Among the planned sites- the second stage reconstruction of the Nizhny Kaban lake embankment and Yunusovskaya square.

Six public spaces are planned to be improved in Kazan in 2020, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Tatarstan capital city, announced today at the XXXVIII session of the Kazan city Duma.

Improvement works will be carried out at the Black lake park, the square on Avangardnaya street, on the territory of the railway workers’ cultural center in Yudino and near the cultural center named after Said-Galiyev in Derbyshki, on Yunusovskaya square. Besides, two more areas will be improved on the embankment of the Nizhny Kaban lake as part of the second stage of reconstruction: on Sh.Marjani street, from the theater named after G.Kamal to the monument of Sh. Marjani, and from M. Salimzhanov street, from the fitness center building to N. Nazarbayev street.

In the summer season, new “the Zambezi River” zoo will operate in full mode, the Mayor added. “It will be inhabited by the brightest representatives of the African continent, - said I.Metshin. – Perhaps for the first time in its 200-year history, the zoo has been not just repaired, but was renovated completely. Not every zoo in Russia can boast of such large-scale transformations. I would like to thank Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for this project, and thank our business and corporate citizens for animals’ collection development to the zoo”.

For information, in 2019, almost 1.5 billion rubles were allocated for the improvement of eight public spaces in Kazan. These funds were used to improve the coastal areas of the Maloye and Bolshoye Lebyazhye lakes, completion of the second stage of the Ak chechekler boulevard, improvement of the Walk of Fame in the Yudino village and other public spaces. Over the last 9 years, with the support of the Republic and the Federal center in Kazan renewed and created 78 public spaces, the total recreation area has increased by 164 ha. Presently, there are 144 recreation areas with a total area of 412 hectares in the capital of Tatarstan.
