Tatarstan Department of the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights: the coronavirus situation remains stable, there is no need to impose additional restrictions

Among the COVID-19 diseased, every fifth is a retiree, 17% of them are over 65 years old.

The situation with the new coronavirus infection remains stable in Tatarstan, but tense, Marina Patyashina, head of Tatarstan Department of the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights - Tatarstan chief state sanitary doctor, said at a press conference at the Tatar-inform News Agency today.

As of today, 7284 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the republic, 28 of them yesterday. Over the past day, nine people have recovered, in total during the pandemic – 6122 people.

According to Marina Patyashina, among them every fifth is a retiree, 17% of patients are over 65 years old.

5,764 people have been tested for coronavirus over the past 24 hours. According to the speaker, testing coverage is increasing. This is mainly due to the survey of citizens arriving to Kazan airport from Turkey. The chief state sanitary doctor of Tatarstan noted that 97.5% of people who returned from abroad are examined in time. Since the start of flights to Turkey, 11 imported COVID cases of have been recorded.

Public transport remains a place of contacting coronavirus infection, M.Patyashina reminded. “The best protection is the use of a mask, although we can see that both the conductors and passengers are not careful. The mask protects not only from coronavirus, but also from 200 airborne viruses”, - she emphasized.

According to the head of Tatarstan Department of the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights, control over compliance with epidemiological safety measures at enterprises has been strengthened. During the week, the Agency's specialists checked 757 venues, violations were detected at 46 of them.

Specialists of the Agency have not identified any problems at the educational facilities. Seventeen cases of the disease remain under control. In 15 cases, these are coronavirus in the form of SARS and only two cases of pneumonia, the speaker noted.

M. Patyashina said that due to the incidence of SARS over the past week, the educational process was suspended in 34 classes of 16 schools. All educational facilities, except one in Bavlinsky region, are located in Kazan.

“At the moment, the Ministry of Health is overloaded with SARS cases, – said the Deputy Minister of Health of Tatarstan Vladimir Zhavoronkov. – This is due to the consciousness of citizens, as they are afraid of getting sick with COVID, so they more often call doctors. Accordingly, the outpatient service is available for almost every case of SARS. This increases the burden on medical institutions. To relieve the infectious diseases hospital, we decided to open a department in the Republican Clinical Hospital to help it. There will be medical sorting of patients and, if necessary, their treatment”.
