Participants of the “Tom Sawyer Fest” will begin to restore facades of old Kazan houses on June 2

<p> (KZN.RU, May 16, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). The participants of the festival “Tom Sawyer Fest” will begin to restore the facades of old houses in the center of Kazan on June 2. This year, they will improve 7 houses. </p> <p> </p> <p> Selection of houses-applicants began in the winter. As a result, 7 objects were chosen for participation in the festival: Shchapov Street, №19/21, Volkov Street, №14, Dostoevsky Street, №12, S. Sadykova Street, №4, G. Tukay Street, №33, Kalinin Street, №4, and F. Karim Street, №11. Volunteers will have to fix the carved elements and restore the missing ones, clean the exterior walls of the house, do priming and painting. All works will be conducted under the control of specialists of companies that are partners of the project. </p> <p> </p> <p> The final composition of the team is not yet known. Regular participants will join the festival, but there will also be those who want to help from time to time. “Everyone is waiting for the season. It's hard to predict how many volunteers will take part”, said Dmitry Polosin, one of the coordinators of the “Tom Sawyer Fest”, the director of the Chack Chack Museum. “Last year, there were from 74-75 people to 100 depending on the weather and the season”. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to him, the main goal of the festival is not just to repair historical houses but to make bonds between its residents. Restoring the appearance of houses encourages Kazan citizens to unite and begin even greater transformations. </p>
