From 17 May, students of school No. 175 will continue their studies at two other schools

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin held a meeting on organization of the educational process for the students of school No. 175.

Students of grades 9 and 11 of Kazan school No. 175 will continue their studies next Monday, May 17. Until the end of the school year, they will study at a separate block of school No. 174 with their teachers. The organization of the educational process and support measures were discussed today at a meeting at school No. 174, which was headed by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

Senior school students will continue their full-time education, the rest will have distance learning

Opening the meeting, the Mayor once again extended his condolences to the families of the victims and injured, and thanked the staff of school No. 175 for their coherent action in an emergency situation. “The director and the teaching staff showed courage and high professionalism. The way they acted decisively, quickly alerting law enforcement agencies and without causing a panic among the children, saved many lives, – the Mayor said. – This is a terrible tragedy that we won’t forget for a long time. We need to draw the necessary conclusions”.

The director of school No. 175, Amina Valeeva, in turn, thanked for the support. “The involvement of all those who responded to this tragedy is priceless. You helped me, my colleagues, parents, and children to get through this. We felt the support we needed so desperately, - she said. - Today we must get over it, find the resources to get the educational process back on track”.

“Today we want to consult with you, - I.Metshin addressed the participants of the meeting. – Two weeks left until the end of the school year. We have senior classes, graduates who need to take exams. It is necessary to understand what we can do to help them cope with this situation and get back to their classes”.

According to psychologists, students from school No. 175 will continue studies on Monday, May 17. Students of grades 9 and 11 will continue their full-time education at school No. 174, and classes for first-graders will be organized at school No. 171. All other classes will have distance learning, said the head of the Department of Education Irek Rizvanov.

According to Aida Ibragimova, director of school No. 174, the school has all necessary conditions for continuing the educational process of senior school students.

School students and their parents will be able to consult with a psychologist of the medical-educational commission

All organizational issues will be resolved in the near future, but along with this, it is necessary to pay attention to mental state of the school students, the Mayor noted. “Tell us what can we do first of all to support children, parents and teachers?” - the head of the city addressed the participants of the meeting.

The organization of work with psychological services is being supervised by the Department of State Policy for Children Safeguarding of the Russian Ministry of Education. Larisa Falkovskaya, director of the department, noted that it is important to give children time to get over what happened.

“As for the families of the victims and injured, they are still experiencing a period of grief and heavy emotions. Psychologists provide assistance at consultations“, - she said.

If desired, students and their parents can be examined by a psychologist of the medical- educational commission. In addition, the individual psychological counseling center will continue to work at school No. 174, where high school students will come to study. A program of long-term psychological support will be developed soon, including for the teaching staff.

“This is a terrible tragedy that occurred on a sunny May day. We thank our colleagues from the federal government who provided assistance, we thank all the residents from other cities who organized commemorative memorials and expressed condolences! Such support means a lot”, - the Mayor added in conclusion.

For reference, the tragedy at school No. 175 happened on 11 May. Nine people were killed in shooting, among them are seven children and two adults, 23 people were hospitalized. Yesterday, eight injured were taken to Moscow for treatment by a special flight of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
