Sergey Ivanov, the chairman of the State Committee of the RT on Tourism, announced this today at the press conference in the IA “Tatar-inform”.
According to the speaker, every year interest in Tatarstan is growing, the opening of direct flights is conducive to an increase in the flow of tourists. Thus, today more than 25 cities of the country are connected with Kazan by direct flights. “Geography is very large: Barnaul, Yaroslavl, Samara, Perm, Tomsk, Kaliningrad, and other cities. We are sure that a large number of people in Russia will take advantage of these flights and will fly to us to look at Kazan and try national cuisine”, said S. Ivanov.
A large number of tourists are expected in Kazan for the May holidays. On average, the guests will spend from 2 to 4 days in the capital of the RT, the hotels' occupancy rate for this period is over 80%, said S. Ivanov.
Darya Sannikova, the director of the Committee for Tourism Promotion, told how to spend the May holidays in Kazan.
The guests of Kazan will be able to get acquainted with the culture of Tatarstan in the complex “Tugan Avilym”, where from 1 to 4 of May and from 10 to 11 of May at 6 pm and 8:30 pm interactive theatrical performances with dances, songs and fun will take place.
You can also feel the national mood in the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. On the summer terrace of the restaurant “Tatarskaya Usadba”, the accordionist will play throughout the May holidays and musical bands will perform. Artists will perform compositions in Tatar, Russian, and English.
An extensive program was prepared in parks and squares of Kazan, noted D. Sannikova. On May 3 at 6 pm, the first stage of the “Words and Music” battle project will take place in the park “Chernoe Ozero”. “Readers and DJs will come to an open area and invent a national composition. The jury is Elmira Kalimullina and Albina Safarova”, said D. Sannikova. On May 4, the environmental project “Public Garden” will start in the Gorkinsko-Ometievsky forest. Everyone will be able to plant their trees and shrubs.
One of the large-scale projects will be the Easter Fair, which will be held on May 4 and 5 on Bauman Street. There will be a shopping arcade decorated in the symbolism of the holiday. The fair will feature products of local farmers, bakeries and cheese manufacturers, souvenirs from Tatarstan artisans. Fair participants will be restaurants and cafes of Kazan. Guests will not only be able to taste the products, but also participate in numerous master classes in cooking various dishes.
At the fair are scheduled performances of music and folk bands, drawing competitions, master classes in cooking Easter cake and painting Easter eggs, drawing prizes. A children's entertainment area will also be organized.
A large program is prepared for the celebration of Victory Day. On May 5, the annual Music of the Victory festival will take place in Gorkinsko-Ometievsky forest, where more than 20 musical wind instruments will perform on stage.
On May 8, a flash mob “We Remember” will take place on the Kremlevskaya Embankment. On May 9, the embankment visitors will celebrate Victory Day with a field kitchen and a concert program. Quizzes and contests await the guests of the holiday.
On the May holidays, guests and residents of the city will be able to admire the views of Kazan from the observation deck of the Family Center “Kazan” and from the republic’s reservoirs. Navigation on the Kaban Lake and the Kazanka River opens from May 1, noted D. Sannikov.
A rich cultural program was prepared in the Kazan Kremlin. “May and summer days are the busiest for the tourism industry. During this period, we are preparing special programs so that tourists can look deeper into the history of Tatarstan”, said Zilya Valeeva, the director of the State Historical-Architectural and Art Reserve-Museum “Kazan Kremlin”.
For example, an interactive program will be launched in the Kazan Kremlin on May holidays, which will show guests the history of Kazan.
