The tourist potential of Kazan will be presented in China

A delegation from the capital of Tatarstan will go to Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Yiwu with a business trip.

The delegation from the capital of Tatarstan arrived in Shanghai with an official visit at the invitation of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan. The delegation includes Daria Sannikova the director of the Committee for Tourism Promotion, Tatiana Basova, the head of the House-Museum of V. Lenin, Professor Maksim Andreev, the director of the international tour operator “Visit KAZAN”, and other representatives of the tourism industry.

The visit includes the presentation of the tourist potential of the capital of Tatarstan, meetings with the heads of the Foreign Affairs Office and representatives of the tourism industry in such Chinese cities as Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Yiwu. On the first day, members of the delegation got acquainted with the experience of working with tourist flows on such major attractions of Shanghai as Nanjing Road, the embankment, the Shanghai Tower (the second tallest in the world), and others.

During the visit, special attention will be paid to the issue of expanding cooperation in tourism and the exchange of experience between Kazan and Hangzhou. October 16 marks the 15th anniversary of the conclusion of an agreement to establish friendly relations with this city in Zhejiang Province. Hangzhou became the first Chinese twin0town of Kazan. Since then, delegations from both sides have visited friendly cities to exchange experiences in various fields, such as urban development, housing and communal services, preservation of architectural and historical monuments, and the development of tourism. In addition, the visit of Chen Xinhua, the vice mayor of Hangzhou, to Kazan is scheduled in October 2018, within the framework of which the capital of Tatarstan will host the Hangzhou Gourmet gastronomic festival. Along with Hangzhou, agreements on the establishment of twin relations are also concluded with the cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.

The work on promoting Kazan in the Russian and international tourist markets is conducted on a regular basis. In 2016, a large-scale tour of the cities with over one million people of Russia took place. The delegation of Kazan visited 8 cities for 1.5 months: Ulyanovsk, Samara, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, and Perm. In 2017, the tourist potential of Kazan was presented in a number of cities in the Volga region as part of a special presentation tour: Cheboksary, Kirov, and Yoshkar-Ola. At the international level, the delegation of Kazan visited Madrid in April 2017, took part in the celebration of Sabantuy in Paris in May, and held a press tour to Riga in August. In January 2018, Kazan took part in the largest tourist exhibitions in Istanbul and Madrid. In March, the tourist potential was presented at an exhibition in Paris.

By the results of 2017, 1.8 million Chinese citizens arrived in Russia, 1.1 million of them named tourism as the purpose of the visit, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia. Chinese tourists have become leaders in the entry flow to the Russian Federation. According to forecasts of the Rosturizm, next year the growth of tourists from China will be more than 10%.
