Employment of orphans and disabled people has been discussed in the framework of the project “Good Kazan”

Representatives of charitable foundations and organizations promoting employment of citizens spoke at the roundtable.

(KZN.RU, February 22, Alena Miroshnichenko). The issues of employment of the wards of charitable foundations and socially-oriented non-profit organizations were discussed at the roundtable meeting within the framework of the project “Good Kazan” yesterday. Rustem Gafarov, the first deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Rustem Khasanov, the deputy of the State Council of the RT, Airat Faizov, the chairman of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs, representatives of charitable foundations of the capital of Tatarstan, organizations promoting employment of citizens, and others attended the meeting at the Youth Center of Gaidar.

During the meeting, issues of employment and vocational guidance for orphans and children without parental care, people with disabilities, parents of disabled children and parents fr om large families were raised.

The experience of employment of children fr om boarding schools in Kazan already exists. Thus, Alfiya Valieva, the director of the charity foundation “Ak Bars Sozidanie”, spoke about the Corporate Mentoring project, which has been implemented since 2017. “Our main task is to help children find themselves in the future. Many of our colleagues faced such a problem that orphans gave the same answer to the question where they would like to go: “Where we will be sent and where there is a hostel”. This problem is relevant for Kazan as well, even with our developed infrastructure”, she said.

The foundation began conducting career guidance events to solve this problem with the support of corporate mentors fr om organizations wh ere high school students-orphans did practical work. Experts and heads of Kazan enterprises told the children how to pass interviews, what documents are necessary for hiring and what is important to pay attention to. Then the children got a job, wh ere they had to join the new team and accustom themselves to production discipline. All along the way, they were supported by corporate mentors. “The children were satisfied with the experience”, marked A. Valieva. However, while working on the project, the problem of lack of vacancies for orphans and children with disabilities who are willing and able to work was discovered.

The fact that employers are reluctant to take part in the employment of persons with disabilities has been noted in the Kazan Employment Center. Gulnara Filippova, the deputy director of the institution, emphasized that, for example, funds for job creation for this category of applicants are compensated from the republican budget. Thus, in 2018, Kazan’s employers were compensated for the equipment of 22 workplaces in the amount of 1.5 million rubles. The speaker proposed to further encourage employers to create vacancies for disabled people and orphans through the allocation of subsidies and grants.

In general, G. Filippova told that over 1000 citizens with disabilities apply to the Employment Center every year; more than 50% of them eventually found jobs. “We carry out activities to ensure the employment of people with disabilities: we create jobs for them, provide temporary employment, vocational training, vocational guidance, job fairs, psychological support and assistance in adjusting to production conditions”, she said.

The same goal is pursued by the project of the Association of personnel management “We need you!”. Svetlana Ganeeva, the head of the association, told about it to the roundtable participants. Within the framework of the project, employers are invited to institutions with inclusive education who familiarize children with various job profiles. “The most successful and promising children with “unlimited possibilities” can take vocational training courses and find a job. They master various professions and also participate in the championship of professional skills among people with disabilities “Abilimpiks”. Last year, the Tatarstan participants of the championship took the third place and won 19 medals”, said S. Ganeeva.

However, the head of the company noted that out of 250 children in the association, only 8% found themselves in the profession today., 27% are potential employees, but the bulk are those who need social adaptation in order to start working. “We approach this issue individually. For example, we send about 50 children to the “Enterprise of Entrepreneurship” to implement their start-ups. Young people have a lot of ideas nowadays!” she said.

Projects on acquaintance with the profession, social and labor adaptation of adolescents, including those with disabilities, are also implemented by the charity foundation “Day of Good Deeds”, the autonomous non-profit organization “I am Good-Maker”, the foundation “The Sun Inside”. Organizations help children find what they can devote their lives to and what will help them get a good income.

The group of companies “HeadHunter” also provides assistance in finding a job to people with disabilities, their parents, and parents from large families. Gulnara Khaisarova, a leading specialist of the Kazan branch, told this at the event. “I will note that the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the most open in terms of vacancies for people with disabilities”, she said. More and more often, this category of citizens is employed in the IT sphere and in sales. In addition, 51% of employers are ready to provide the opportunity to work remotely, which is very convenient for parents who have to spend the whole day with their children. “They may be offered the vacancies of the call center operator, administrator and sales manager”, she said.

The discussion held during the meeting was lively and active. Representatives of charitable foundations were able to share experiences. Employers and organizations that promote the employment of citizens, identified for themselves the points of growth and areas wh ere they can assist them.
