A third of the Kazan zoo-botanical garden will be inhabited by animals of South America

<p> (KZN.RU, March 21). The “Zambezi River”, the first part of the project for the renewal and expansion of the zoo, will open on the territory of the Kazan zoo-botanical garden in 2018. Then the reconstruction of the current part will begin, and after a while – the construction of the territory of the “Amazon” with animals of South America. Fanis Nurmukhametov, the director of the Kazan zoo-botanical garden, told about this in an interview to the portal KZN.RU. </p> <p> </p> <p> Work in the new part of the zoo-botanical garden “Zambezi River” is executed on more than 75%. The design is started with a modern material polymer concrete: the finishing of cages with artificial stone, wood, landscape works inside the enclosures. </p> <p> </p> <p> The third part, dedicated to South America, will appear in the zoo-botanical garden last. Beetles, parrots, capybara, tapirs will live there. According to preliminary plans, “South America” will be located on the opposite bank of the lake Sredny Kaban along Tekhnicheskaya Street. </p> <p> </p> <p> The zoo-botanical garden area will increase about three-fold due to two new parts devoted to the fauna of Africa and South America. The concept was developed in cooperation with specialists from the Czech Republic. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Our goal is to remove all the cells, leave space so that there is no feeling that the animals are behind bars. The concept of the past centuries is outdated, and the agenda is different. A natural habitat is created for animals”, explained the director of the Kazan zoo-botanical garden. </p>
