The Tatarstan Customs presented stuffed crocodiles to one of the museums of Kazan for the second time

The stuffed crocodiles were confiscated from passengers-violators.

(KZN.RU, May 29). The collection of the Zoological Museum named after E. Averman of the Kazan Federal University was replenished with two stuffed animals of rare Siamese crocodiles. Seized from air passengers-violators, exhibits were presented to specialists by the Tatarstan Customs.

Customs officers found both exhibits, weighing 198 and 199.4 grams, in the luggage of passengers who arrived at the international airport Kazan from Vietnam. The souvenirs were seized and sent for examination, as some species of reptiles are protected and prohibited for importation. The experts confirmed that the seized stuffed animals are subject to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. Then an administrative case was initiated. The court decided to confiscate prohibited souvenirs.

Customs officers offered to transfer stuffed animals to one of the oldest museums in Kazan. This idea was supported by the Federal Customs Service of Russia. The Zoological Museum receives such a gift from the Tatarstan Customs for the second time. In 2016, the KFU received three stuffed rare crocodiles.
