Tatarstan heads the rating for compliance with ESG criteria

Over the past year, the republic has bypassed Moscow

By the end of 2023, Tatarstan became the leader among the Russian regions in terms of sustainable development and integration of ESG criteria. This conclusion was reached by analysts of the National Rating Agency together with experts from the ESG laboratory of Moscow State University.

The republic has successfully implemented management practices for solutions to environmental, social and corporate issues. The top 5 regions also included Moscow, the Moscow region, the Lipetsk region and St. Petersburg.

“In the ranking of 2023, the republic of Tatarstan managed to ensure a balance of indicators in all blocks of the ranking and break out into the leaders thanks to comprehensive work in all areas of the ESG agenda. Moscow has moved to the second place in the ESG ranking. The republic of Tatarstan is also the leader in the environmental block,”- the message says.

Earlier it was reported that Tatarstan entered the top 5 Russian regions at the end of last year. The regions of the Russian Federation were assessed according to the quality of life, the socio-economic situation of the country's subjects, the labor market, the well-being of the residents, scientific and technological development and a healthy lifestyle.
