The work on building a gas pipeline, laying a road network, and improving the area remain at the object.
(KZN.RU, June 21, Alina Berezhnaya). The new burial complex of Kazan, located on the border with the Pestrechinsky district of Tatarstan, is built by 80%. Marat Ishkin, the head of the Directorate for the organization of funeral services of the Kazan Executive Committee, conducted a tour of the facility under construction in the framework of the regional forum “Necropol-Kazan 2019”.
The total area of the burial complex is 88.05 hectares. In its northern part, burials will be held according to Orthodox rites, and in the southern – according to Muslim rites. “The cemetery is public. This means that if a husband and wife are of different faiths, they can be buried in any part of the cemetery”, explained M. Ishkin.
Participants of the tour noted that the new burial complex is impressive not only for its size, but also for its amenities. The territory is equipped with video surveillance cameras, places for parting were built on the Orthodox and Muslim sides. An administrative building with a waiting room was erected; there is a security room, restrooms, a household building with a workshop for engraving monuments and heated garages for special equipment. In the future, it is planned to purchase an electric vehicle, and people with limited mobility will be able to use it.
Even though the burial complex will meet all modern standards, all burials will be held manually without the use of specialized machinery. “There will be no mechanical equipment; we will dig by hand. A person should be escorted worthy, not buried with tractor buckets”, said Marat Ishkin. He added that grave fences would be banned at the cemetery; the first burials will be produced from distant parts of the cemetery to the center.
The territory of the complex has separate areas of 1 hectare each from the north and south sides of the central alley for the burial of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, war veterans in Afghanistan and other military operations, as well as people who have made significant contributions to the development of the republic. The opening of this burial zone took place during the tour. “Thanks to the leadership of the city that they heard our request and allocated land. This is very valuable for us”, said Ruslan Shaikhutdinov, a member of the Coordination Council of the RT on veterans of military operations in the Republic of Afghanistan, participants of armed conflicts and counter-terrorist operations in the North Caucasus region.
There are 34 cemeteries in Kazan, 32 of which are municipal. They have left about 2% of free land for burial. “Even though mortality is decreasing, there is a catastrophic shortage of places in the cemetery. If possible, we offer to bury the dead in the grave to relatives, if 15 years have passed since the last burial”, said Marat Ishkin.
The budget of Tatarstan allocated 265 million 477.56 thousand rubles for the construction of two public cemeteries in the burial complex to solve the problem of land shortage in 2017. The object is designed for 148.5 thousand burial sites. “According to calculations, the cemetery will be filled only in 40 years”, said M. Ishkin.
The work on the creation of a road network, an economic water supply system, building a gas pipeline, arranging container platforms, installing a water treatment system, purchasing furniture, and improving the area remain at the object.
The Committee on Transport is discussing the issue of organizing a bus route that will pass through the burial complex.
“Kazan does not just keep up with the times in the funeral industry, but takes a few steps ahead. It is an incredible complex. Everything is done for the people, for their convenience. Everything that we see today will be useful for other regions as well”, said Zhanna Koltsova, a crematorium construction expert from St. Petersburg.
The construction of a Jewish cemetery will begin after the opening of the burial complex in Kazan. A plot of 9.9 hectares near the Muslim cemetery on the Mamadysh Tract has been allocated.
