Sabantuy under palm trees: Antalya celebrated the Tatar national holiday

The guests saw the exhibition “Originally from the TASSR” and performances of Kazan schoolchildren.

(KZN.RU, June 24). Yesterday, the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy was celebrated in Antalya. A concert was organized at the stadium of the Moscow International School for guests where Kazan schoolchildren performed. Also, the exhibition “Originally from TASSR”, prepared by the Kazan Museum of Soviet Lifestyle, was presented.

Kazan took an active part in the preparation and holding of a multicultural event in the Eastern Mediterranean. The start of Sabantuy under the palm trees was given by Marat Fattiev, the deputy head of the Kazan Department of Education. In several languages, he told numerous guests the history of the ancient Tatar holiday and reminded its important cultural, educational, and historical background.

One of the guests of the holiday was Oleg Ragosa, the Consul General of Russia in Antalya. He noted the importance of cultural bonds between Russia and Turkey and cited as an example the educational-museum exchange between the twin cities Kazan and Antalya.

Kazan schoolchildren performed at a concert along with professional artists from Tatarstan and other regions of Russia, as well as the cities of Turkey. And everyone could take part in national games, contests, and competitions. The official guests from the capital of Tatarstan presented the symbols of Kazan to the most talented performers and dancers, as well as the winners of the contests and members of the Antalya Tatars community.
