Managing companies are responsible for the condition of chimneys and ventilation.
(KZN.RU, March 21, Ksenia Shvetsova). From January to March of the current year, 39 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning were recorded in Tatarstan. The malfunction of the systems for the removal of combustion products (chimneys and ventilation) is in the first place among all gas supply incidents. Kazan citizens are urged to pay special attention to this issue and remind that management companies and pipe furnace organizations are responsible for the good condition of the removal systems.
On average, carbon monoxide poisoning in the country covers 70% of gas service accidents. Dmitry Orlovich, the head of the gas management service organization for “Gazprom transgaz Kazan”, said this at the press conference in the news agency “Tatar-inform” today. He said that in 2018, there were 31 incidents related to carbon monoxide poisoning in the territory of Tatarstan, 2 fatal cases. 4 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning occurred in Kazan last year, as a result of which 18 people were injured.
Management companies are responsible for the condition of chimneys and ventilation that enter into contracts for servicing chimneys with pipe-treatment organizations. “The owners of the housing are responsible for the serviceability of gas equipment, and management companies ensure the maintenance of chimneys. Although we are doing this work together”, added the speaker. Last year, before cleaning the ventilation channels, 195 Kazan apartments on Bondarenko, Korolenko, and Chekhov street were disconnected from the gas supply due to the lack of traction in the chimneys.
“Now due to the temperature drops, ice forms on the chimney heads, which prevents the exit of combustion products. Management companies should closely monitor this”, underlined D. Orlovich.
From July 1, 2019, Kazan will establish a separate tariff for maintenance of ventilation and chimneys in the amount of 30 and 55 kopecks per square meter, respectively. The tariff was introduced for the first time on the basis of an expert assessment of all the measures provided for by the regulations. For this money, service organizations will conduct an inspection of chimneys, the current repair of chimneys and ventilation systems, thus preventing cases of carbon monoxide poisoning.
