Residents of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and China came to the city most often
Since the beginning of the year, citizens of 150 countries have visited Kazan. Residents of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and China come to the capital of Tatarstan most often for the purpose of employment and education. This was reported at the coordinating council on interethnic and interfaith relations, the working group on the prevention of offenses among foreign citizens and the municipal commission for the implementation of legislation on the languages of Tatarstan.
Guzel Sagitova, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan, headed the meeting. Representatives of the Administration of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan, the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic of Tatarstan, deputies of the Kazan City Duma, representatives of ministries and departments of the Executive Committee of the city were invited.
“The issues of interethnic relations are becoming more and more urgent. Our city has always been famous and proud of its multiculturalism, tolerance, so it is very important to continue to maintain balance. National policy should not be implemented only in our offices, there can be no template solutions,”- Guzel Sagitova addressed the participants of the meeting.
Over the past six months, 1,900 foreign citizens have received a residence permit in Kazan, and 17,500 people can work in the capital of Tatarstan. Another 981 foreign citizens received a temporary residence permit, 26,400 foreigners extended their permission. The data was announced by Andrey Shulepov, Head of the Kazan Migration Department.
“In 2020, the list of persons who can apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation was expanded. The migration departments in Kazan have accepted 966 such applications,”- he said.
Presently, 39,200 foreigners have a permission to live in Kazan.
