Rustem Gafarov: “About 28 thousand people will take part in the 10thKazan Marathon – twice as many as last year”

The headliner of the marathon will be the group “Otpetye moshenniki”

About 28 thousand people from all over Russia and other countries have registered to participate in the 10^th Kazan Marathon. On 11-12May, they will run distances through the picturesque and historical sites of the city. The headliner of the sports festival will be the group “Otpetye moshenniki”. Linar Garipov, head of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, informed about the activities for the participants and fans.

“This weekend, we will host the 10^thKazan Marathon, which will gather about 28,000 participants. This is twice as much as last year. Thus, a large-scale sports festival is expected on the streets of the city. We wish all participants of the marathon incredible emotions and high sports results,”- said Rustem Gafarov, Head of the Kazan Executive Committee.

On May 11, athletes will run 3 and 10 km, and on May 12, athletes will participate in the half marathon and marathon distances (21 km and 42 km). Those who do not participate in the races will join the support groups. A competition will be held among the fans, the prize fund of which will amount to 650 thousand rubles.

According to the Tatarstan Ministry of Sports, a concert will be held at the Trudovye Rezervy stadium as part of the Kazan Marathon on May 11. The event will begin at 19:00 with the Parade of Nations, after which “Otpetye moshenniki”will take the stage.
