1,700 tons of waste are generated in Kazan every day, a third of which is in villages and residential areas
In six months, the regional operator has exported more than 2 million cubic meters of solid municipal waste from Kazan. Approximately 12,500 cubic meters are exported daily, with the help of 100 special vehicles. In summer, there is practically no accumulation of waste on the territory of apartment buildings, but settlements and residential areas, where construction work starts, are a challenging area. To prevent the accumulation of garbage, Rustem Gafarov, head of the Executive Committee, held a meeting with the head of the regional operator.
The head of the Executive Committee of Kazan, Rustem Gafarov, held a meeting with the regional operator “PZhKH” on timely removal of solid municipal waste from the settlements of Kazan. In summer, the amount of waste in residential areas traditionally increases, which leads to the accumulation of waste at container sites.
The meeting was attended by Deputy head of the Executive Committee Iskander Giniyatullin, Chairman of the Housing and Communal Services Committee Vasily Lysachkin, Deputy General Director of the Management Company “PZhKH” Almir Kurbanov and heads of district administrations.
About 1,700 tons of solid waste or 12,400 cubic meters of garbage are exported from Kazan every day. Of these, one third is accounted for by waste removed from the territories of residential areas and settlements, where about 190,000 people live. Residents of the city leave garbage at 2,495 container sites near apartment buildings and at 393 waste accumulation sites in villages. The regional operator uses 98-100 vehicles for garbage collection every day.
5.3 million cubic meters of garbage were removed from Kazan last year. This is more than was disposed of on average annually 10 years ago – about 3 million cubic meters. Over the past six months, 2.2 million cubic meters of waste have already been removed. The construction of new housing has led to an increase in the volume of waste.
Among the reasons for untimely waste collection are the lack of container sites and insufficient capacity of existing ones, the lack of free land in settlements for their construction, as well as insufficient multiplicity of waste removal from the most problematic places of accumulation of waste.
Over 2.5 years, more than 2,200 private houses were built in Kazan, which generate 17,800 cubic meters of garbage per year, and the capacity of existing sites during the same time was increased by only 400 cubic meters.
Rustem Gafarov urged the regional operator to increase the frequency of waste collection from settlements; instructed the heads of district administrations to prepare proposals for the placement of container sites in residential areas.
