Rustem Gafarov: «We will continue to support proactive residents who are able to inspire others»

About 1,000 citizens volunteered to help clean the reservoirs shores in Kazan

Since spring, 53 kilometers of rivers and lakes in Kazan have been cleaned of garbage under the «Conservation of Unique Water Bodies» project. During this period, 40 environmental events were carried out with approximately 1,000 people participating in coastal cleanups. Approximately 600 cubic meters of garbage was taken to landfills. Albert Shainurov, Head of the Land Improvement Committee, announced this at a staff meeting.

«It is obvious that natural resources are not infinite, and the impact of human activity in large cities is significant – this is the price we pay for convenience. However, while some people understand this, others take action. There are still a minority of these people, but we know that proactive people can inspire and lead, so we will continue to support them», – said Rustem Gafarov, Head of the Kazan Executive Committee. He added that the city's five-year development plan has set a path for sustainable growth, which is impossible without addressing environmental issues.
