Rustam Minnikhanov got acquainted with a strategy for the development of the Kazanka River embankment

The draft strategy for the development of the Kazanka River embankment was presented today to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

The Prime Minister of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin and others took part in the presentation, at the Government House of the republic.

Eduard Moro, an architect, urban and sustainable development specialist, co-founder of the Orchestra Design Studio, presented the strategy. The project involves the development of the coastal territories for the period 2020-2030, the creation of the largest ecosystem of coastal parks, which will become an economic and educational resource for the sustainable development of Kazan.

Eduard Moro noted that the key elements of the strategy are the creation of 12 new parks at new sites of 1536 hectares, about 150 new and updated pedestrian routes along the coastal territories. As a result, the project makes the Kazanka River a strong city brand, creating new tourist routes and recreation opportunities for visitors and citizens of Kazan.

Eduard Moro introduced more detailed the concept of creating twelve parks, including the Old Kazanka park, Manzara park, Kazanka River gardens, the Festival site, park of knowledge, sports park, Uram park, eco-embankment at the territory of the Russian-German Switzerland, Savinovsky park, Kazanka Bay park, eco-park Su Alany and Five rivers park. As the architect reminded, the project of the Five rivers park entered the Top 30 best projects in Russia and successfully entered the second stage of the competition for ecotourism development projects in Russia.

“A lot of work has been done and a very good project was developed, - Rustam Minnikhanov said. – We see a comprehensive understanding of the development of territories. This document can become a road map”.

According to the architect, the development strategy of Kazanka will create new scenarios for the behavior of citizens, in which the priorities will be active and healthy leisure by the water. In general, the development strategy of Kazanka meets the demand of modern citizens for an eco-friendly lifestyle and the preservation of natural heritage.

After the presentation, Rustam Minnikhanov and other participants of the meeting took a bike ride at the site that is supposed to be improved.
