Rustam Minnikhanov declared 2021 the year of native languages and national unity in Tatarstan

The President of the republic addressed the Tatarstan State Council.

Today, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the Tatarstan State Council. The mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin attended the event.

In his speech, R.Minnikhanov emphasized that 2020 was full of significant dates. Among them are the 100^th anniversary of the TASSR and the 75^th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The coronavirus pandemic has made certain changes to the life of the republic, R. Minnikhanov notes. He thanked medical workers, employees of Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights and law enforcement agencies for their work during the pandemic.

According to R.Minnikhanov, in order to reduce the negative consequences in the economy, on behalf of the Russian President, the government of the country implemented a set of support measures. “Similar measures were taken by the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan as soon as possible,” the head of the Republic emphasized.

The most important socio-political event in the life of the country, R.Minnikhanov called the Russian vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Tatarstan President highly appreciated of the work of the entire team in regards of the results of the elections of Tatarstan President and deputies of representative bodies of local self-government held in September.

Speaking about the plans, R. Minnikhanov noted the importance of holding events on preservation and development the culture and identity of the peoples of the republic. Major upcoming events will be the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the celebration in 2022 of the 1100^th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. Tatarstan President proposed to declare 2021 the Year of native languages and national unity in Tatarstan.

According to R.Minnikhanov, Tatarstan will continue to implement republican and national projects. “The opening of new and renovated schools, kindergartens, hospitals and clinics, parks and squares, sports facilities, roads has become customary. Over 10 years, more than 7.5 thousand social and cultural facilities were renovated and other 3.2 thousand were built, more than 400 public spaces were equipped, and more than 12 thousand houses were overhauled. This year, the renovated 49 schools, 117 kindergartens, 96 health care facilities, 68 cultural facilities, 131 sports venues will open for visitors”, - Tatarstan President noted.

Among the crucial projects is the strategy of improvement of the Kazanka River.

Besides, the head of the republic of Tatarstan emphasized that a lot of work is being made in preserving the historical and cultural heritage, support of creative teams and cultural professionals, and training of specialists.

In his speech, Tatarstan President also identified the main vectors of development in the industry, the importance of implementing programs for the conservation of environment, improvement of traffic infrastructure, improving the quality of life in the rural regions, Tatarstan President’s Press Office reports.
