Tatarstan President and the head of the city participated in the ceremony on the beginning of integrated development of 287 hectares near the Volga.
Today in Kazan, a ceremony of launching the construction of the first residential area was held as part of the integrated development of the territory at Portovaya Street. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, Vice President, Chairman of the Board of Sberbank PJSC Pyotr Koltypin and others attended the event.
“There were several attempts to approach this territory,”- Tatarstan President said. He noted that there are not so many places in Kazan with a direct access to the Volga, where people could enjoy the beauty of the river. The head of the republic also drew attention to the system approach that will be applied during the renovation of this site. “It is necessary to create comfortable conditions. This is a new chapter of architectural solutions for the capital of Tatarstan, which provides for a high standard and a vector for development that Kazan should follow. I believe that this project will be successful and life in this neighborhood will be comfortable,”- Tatarstan President stressed.
“This is a historic moment for us. We are opening an access to the Volga and launching a great project,”- Ilsur Metshin said. The head of the city thanked the leadership of the republic, architects and construction workers who contributed to the development of a large-scale project.
“Never before has Russia been implemented such global transformation and renovation of such territories. The area where we are standing used to be an industrial site with dozens of construction bases. But in the near future, this site will become a wonderful residential area for thousands of Kazan residents and visitors of the capital,”- the Mayor noted. For reference, the renovation area will be 287 hectares. The project is planned to be completed in 10 years.
PJSC Sberbank acted as the main financial partner of the construction, while SMU-88 became the developer of the first residential complex.
Before the event, the chief architect of Kazan Ilsiyar Tukhvatullina gave a tour of the territory of the first stage of development and showed where the main facilities will be located. The construction of the first residential area is planned to be completed by 2031, while first residential buildings will be put into operation in 2025. There will be 20 residential buildings with more than 1,100 apartments and commercial premises.
In total, there will be 1.5 million square meters of housing and 1.3 million square meters of administrative and commercial premises. The area of landscaped public spaces will occupy at least 25% of the area of the projected territory with a 12 km long landscaped embankment.
For reference, well-known Moscow architects Alexander Tsimailo and Nikolai Lyashenko, the best in Russia in 2022 according to the version of ArchMoscow, were involved in the development of the project of the first residential complex. The project took into account the national identity of Kazan. According to the chief architect of Kazan, architectural and spatial concepts of the next residential areas will also be developed with the participation of leading Russian specialists.
Kazan and Sberbank signed an agreement on the renovation of the River Port territory in the capital of Tatarstan two weeks ago at the Eastern Economic Forum. According to preliminary calculations, the total amount of investments in the development of this area will amount to 500 billion rubles.
