R. Minnikhanov: “The KazanSummit Forum has significantly changed over the last decade”

The international economic summit gathered experts from all over the world in the capital of Tatarstan.

(KZN.RU, May 10). Kazan hosts the X International Economic Summit “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit” in the GTRK “Korston”. It gathered experts and heads of large companies from all over the world in the capital of Tatarstan. This year the main topic of the forum was halal way of life. Within the framework of the summit, Russia Halal Expo was opened today. More than 80 exhibitors from Russia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan presented their products and services. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, visited the exhibition.

The main goal of the Russia Halal Expo is to popularize the Halal industry in Russia, to show the potential of the halal segment of the Russian economy and to provide opportunities for presentation of products to potential buyers and trade partners. The exposition was divided into separate thematic areas: food products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, jewelry, clothes, children's toys and books, and other goods.

Mintimer Shaimiev, the State Councilor of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil khazrat Samigullin, Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan, Talia Minnullina, the head of the Agency for Investment Development of the RT, and honorary guests of KazanSummit took part in the exhibition as well. At the end of the detour, Rustam Minnikhanov held a working meeting with the speakers of the plenary session of the summit.

Also today, within the framework of the summit, there was a business breakfast on the topic “Russia and Islamic World: Strategic Partnership”. R. Minnikhanov, Behnam Gurban-Zade, the adviser to the deputy chairman of the Board of PAO “Sberbank”, Petr Koltypin, the vice-president-chairman of the Volga-Vyatka Bank, Abdullah Mohammed Al’avar, the general director of the Dubai Islamic Development Center, Zamir Iqbal, the vice president of the Islamic Development Bank also attended the meeting.

Participants discussed issues of priority cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world. Among other things, cooperation in the field of Islamic banking and development of the halal sector was considered.

The President of the RT noted that the KazanSummit forum is gaining momentum every year and has significantly changed over the past decade. “We are gathering for the tenth time, KazanSummit is gaining momentum. In these ten years, we have grown tenfold. Today this summit has become completely different. It has already grown from the topic of Islamic banking to the halal way of life. The Forum received the support of the President of Russia. There is his order that Russia should have close contact with the Islamic world through Kazan platform”, marked Rustam Minnikhanov and recalled that today there are about 20 million Muslims in the country. He expressed hope that the Kazan forum will help Russia to get closer to the Islamic world, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
