Kazan restaurants will compete for the gastronomic award Wheretoeat Tatarstan – 2019

The voting for the top 10 catering establishments will begin on August 5th.

(KZN.RU, April 23, Alina Berezhnaya). Kazan restaurants will fight for the national restaurant award Wheretoeat Tatarstan – 2019. Along with Kazan, the best catering establishments will be chosen in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, and the Urals Federal District. The features of the restaurant award were explained today at the press conference at the Kazan Palace by Tasigo Hotel.

For the first time, a gastronomic award was held in 2013 in St. Petersburg on the initiative of a group of restaurant journalists who have been studying foreign experience for a long time. After 3 years, the restaurants of Moscow joined the award. Last year, the geography expanded even more: the institutions of the Krasnodar Territory joined the competition.

The concept of the award is simple and transparent, said Irina Tiusonina, the general producer of the National Restaurant Award Wheretoeat. 100 experts are chosen from the restaurant business in each participating city, sommeliers, chefs, vintners, restaurateurs, and others are among them. “Each of the experts includes in his voting list the ten most interesting institutions of the city in his opinion. Each catering company gets points from one to ten, then all data are summed up and transformed into a final rating”, explained Irina Tiusonina. She added that the composition of the panel of experts remains secret until the end of the vote collection. The top 10 places that score the most win. The start of evaluation of institutions in Tatarstan will begin on August 5. Any restaurant of Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Almetyevsk, and other cities of the republic can enter the rating.

According to Sergey Ivanov, the chairman of the State Tourism Committee of the RT, today 70% of tourists come to Tatarstan on their own without travel agencies. Therefore, this award will become a kind of navigator in catering establishments for them. “It is important for us to identify the most interesting places where guests get 100% satisfaction from the visit. Such ratings help a person navigate a large number of catering establishments. In addition, a traveler spends about 20% of all expenses on food, we must make these expenses of tourists as pleasant as possible”, said S. Ivanov.

Along with the selection of dozens of best places, special nominations will be established, including “Chef of the Year”, “Sommelier of the Year”, “Restaurant Reviewer of the Year”, “Media Choice”, “Young Chef of the Year” according to the National Culinary Association as well as a special nomination for catering establishments of Kazan “The Best Restaurant of Tatar Cuisine”.

“When guests come to Kazan, I want to offer them delicious cuisine with professional service along with the shows. National cuisine is presented in a large number of restaurants in Kazan. We want to further develop this area, more atmospheric institutions should appear in Kazan”, said Daria Sannikova, the director of the Kazan Committee for Tourism Promotion.

The results of the award will be announced on October 11. Restaurants included in the top 10 will receive branded porcelain plates Wheretoeat, and winners in some categories will receive porcelain cups, as well as prizes from award partners.
