The International economic summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022” gathered experts from around the world in the capital of Tatarstan.
The 13th International Economic Summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022” started today at the Kazan–Expo center, bringing together representatives of various organizations, public and financial institutions, ambassadors, politicians, investors and entrepreneurs from 65 countries and 55 regions of Russia in the capital of Tatarstan. This year, the summit’s central theme is the economy of shared consumption and the development of the halal industry.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov opened the forum. The plenary session was attended by Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin, Chair of the Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin, State Councilor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Hadrat Samigullin, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and others. The speakers were officials of Sudan, Bahrain, UAE, Egypt, Uzbekistan and other countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent greetings to the summit participants.
R.Minnikhanov greeted the guests and noted that the summit is being held during the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of adopting Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.
Tatarstan President noted that Russia, where more than 20 million Muslims live, has great prospects for the halal industry – catering, tourism, medicine, fashion, and IT. Today, more than 100 companies produce halal products in Tatarstan, of which about 20 companies are export-oriented.
From May 19 to 21, the summit participants will discuss Islamic finance and partner banking, youth diplomacy, export development, entrepreneurship and investment.
For reference, on May 20, Kazan will host a meeting of the Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, which is headed by Rustam Minnikhanov having this duty imposed on him by Russian President. Over 100 delegates from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Iraq, Senegal, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia and other countries will take part in the meeting. They will share the experience of preserving ethnic and cultural diversity, interethnic and interreligious harmony.
