R. Minnikhanov: “Every large international project taking place in Kazan is a contribution to the development of the city and the republic”

The 45th WorldSkills Championship Kazan 2019 starts in the capital of the RT.

(KZN.RU, August 22, Alena Miroshnichenko). Every international event that takes place in Kazan contributes to the development of the city and the republic. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, expressed this opinion today at the press conference on the occasion of the opening of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

Tatiana Golikova, deputy prime minister of the RF, Simon Bartley, the WorldSkills International President, Robert Urazov, the general director of the Young Professionals Union (WorldSkills Russia), attended the press conference in the media center of the exhibition complex “Kazan Expo”.

Such a large-scale international project as WorldSkills Kazan 2019 is a significant event for Russia, said Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT. “Every large international project taking place in Kazan is another contribution to the development of the city and the republic”, he marked. “Everything that is being done today in Tatarstan is aimed at making life in the republic more comfortable”.

The WorldSkills Championship will be held in Kazan from 22 to 27 of August. More than 1300 participants from 63 countries will demonstrate their skills in 56 competencies.

Tatiana Golikova, the deputy prime minister of the RF, noted that holding such competitions imposes a great responsibility on the host country. “We tried to make our championship different from others”, she marked. The deputy prime minister of the RF said that every country where such championships are held is trying to enrich the event with new ideas. For example, on the initiative of Russia, schoolchildren from 13 years old (WorldSkills Juniors) will take part in the competition for the first time. Competitions for the professions of the future (FutureSkills) will also take place.

In addition, the international exhibition complex “Kazan Expo”, the largest one in Russia with an area of 269 thousand square meters, was built specifically for holding a professional competition in the capital of Tatarstan. “This is the largest site on which such championships were held”, added T. Golikova.

“Our experts and specialists are just finishing their preparations, but they are already talking about the pleasure they feel from being here”, said Simon Bartley, the President of WorldSkills International.

According to T. Golikova, it is expected that 250 thousand people will attend the championship events. She marked that this is comparable to the number of guests of the 2018 World Cup. Participants and guests will be helped by more than 3500 volunteers from 80 countries.

“The largest business program in the history of such events will be part of the WorldSkills championship in Kazan”, said the speaker.

Rustam Minnikhanov also noted the productive influence that the WorldSkills movement has on the development of working professions. “It is gratifying that the world experience, the best technologies and the skill of the contestants provide an opportunity to draw attention to the professions that are in demand, to increase their popularity”, said the President of the RT.

37 resource centers for training workers have been created in the RT on the basis of specialized educational institutions together with leading employers. In 2020, their number will be brought to 41. These organizations make a serious contribution to the formation of a personnel reserve for the industrial enterprises of the region.

Today, the Kazan Arena stadium will host the opening ceremony of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019. Guests will enjoy a large-scale spectacular show. In addition, augmented reality technologies are involved in the production.
