R.Gafarov: “Today, almost half of the population of Kazan has chosen a healthy lifestyle and sports”

On the Day of the Physical Culture, citizens will be able to see the performances of famous athletes and enroll children to the sports section.

Kazan is preparing to celebrate the Day of the Physical Culture. The main events will be held next Saturday on August,14 at the Uram extreme park. “I am sure that all the events of the Day of the Physical Culture will be spectacular and interesting. Today, almost half of the population of Kazan has chosen a healthy lifestyle and sports. The increased number of participants in sport events, bike marathons, cross-country skiing competitions proves this fact, as well as the number of people at the sports grounds in parks and squares”, - said Rustem Gafarov, head of the Executive Committee of Kazan, today at the Business Monday.

He noted that a healthy lifestyle is becoming a new trend, young people actively participate in mass events. “This is consisting to the development goals of our city. We have been striving for this, and we will not to stop there”, - R.Gafarov stressed. The head of the Executive Committee of Kazan added that healthy habits need to be formed from childhood, so parents together with their children will have the opportunity to choose their favorite sports section on Saturday’s event.

According to Albert Salikhov, chair of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports of Kazan, the visitors of the holiday will see performances, including in sports that are gaining popularity. For example, sup-board demonstration will be held near the Uram Park. On the same day, the Kazan Sailing Championship will be held.

Traditional competitions will be also held on the Day of the Physical Culture. In the morning, matches of the All-Russian 3x3 Orange Ball basketball tournament will be held on the outdoor playgrounds.

5x5 football competitions will be held at the Gorky Park. The tournament will be attended by teams of the Executive Committee of Kazan, the Ministry of Sports of Tatarstan, teams of journalists, medical workers, football referees and Tatar pop artists. The final games of the Kazan Youth Football Cup in 7 age groups will be held in the open air at the Trudovye Reservy stadium.

The Kazan Beach Sports Center will host tournaments among beach volleyball, handball, football and rugby fans. In addition, for the first time, the city will host the GTO Games competitions. The participants will have to compete in team relays, performing the Ready for Labor and Defense standards. The participants will compete for the title of the most sports residential complex in the city, A. Salikhov said.

The sports festival will culminate in a boxing tournament on a special ring at the Uram Park.

“A surprise for the spectators will be the participation in exhibition events of the famous national sport teams – UNICS basketball club, Zenit-Kazan volleyball club, Dinamo-Kazan volleyball club, Kazanochka women basketball club and Strela rugby club”, – said the speaker.

A.Salikhov added that all activities will be held in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.
