<p> The I CIS Games will be held in Kazan from September 4 to 11, and the Russia – Country of Sports International Forum will be held from September 8 to 10. In total, about 5 thousand people will participate in the events. “It is an honor for Kazan to become a city where new traditions of major international competitions are being developed. We believe that our athletes will participate successfully, and we will be able to show not only organizational experience, but also the hospitality of residents and volunteers”, - said the head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Rustem Gafarov today at the Business Monday meeting. </p> <h3>At the Games, 15 athletes from Tatarstan will be part of the Russian team </h3> <p> According to Albert Salikhov, chair of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, I CIS Games were scheduled for August 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition was postponed. Currently, 10 CIS countries have already submitted applications for participation. It is expected that more than 2 thousand members of delegations, including 1,473 athletes, will come to Kazan. </p> <p> In total, there will be 184 medal events in 16 different sports at competitions. 15 athletes from Tatarstan and its capital will be part of the Russian national team. They will defend the honor of the country in 6 sports. </p> <p> “The opening and closing ceremonies are planned to be held at the Flags Alley of the Universiade Village in the format of a performance devoted to the cultural diversity, history and traditions of the CIS countries, revealing the theme of friendship and unity of peoples”, - A.Salikhov added. </p> <p> According to the speaker, a PCR testing for coronavirus is mandatory for all participants of the Games. “Due to the unstable sanitary and epidemiological situation, active consultations are being held with the operational headquarters and the Rospotrebnadzor of Tatarstan to ensure the admission of spectators to the competitions,”- A.Salikhov said and noted that an Internet broadcast of the competitions is planned. </p> <h3>After 12 years, Kazan will host the Russia- Country of Sports International Forum</h3> <p> In the final days of the I CIS Games, Kazan will host the Russia – Country of Sports International Forum. It will be held at the Kazan Expo multifunctional exhibition center, and will be attended by more than 2 thousand people. </p> <p> The forum was held for the first time in 2009 in Kazan, and 12 years later, sports representatives from all over the world will gather again in the capital of Tatarstan. They will discuss the urgent issues in the physical culture and sports. </p> <p> The business program will include discussions on key issues of the industry, practical cases and master classes from opinion leaders. </p> <p> It is planned to organize an exhibition on the territory of more than 10 thousand sq. m, where the main sports projects of the country will be presented. The participation of the leading sports clubs and teams of the republic that represent Tatarstan at international level is planned: FC Rubin, HC Ak Bars, Kamaz-master. </p> <p> “No doubt, the forum will be held only taking into account strict compliance with the current sanitary and epidemiological requirements of the Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Protection)”, - A.Salikhov noted. </p>
